OUR BELIEFS
About God
About God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has always existed. There is only one God, though He has revealed Himself in three distinct personalities: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. These three personalities are equally God.

About God the Father
God is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, all wise, and all holy. Because of our sin, we cannot have a relationship with God apart from Jesus Christ. God wants every person to know Him and love Him intimately, and He has made Himself known in creation and in the Scriptures to invite us into a love relationship. God is for us, not against us. His invitation is open to all people, though God will not force us to accept His offer of love.

About God the Son (Jesus)
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, literally God in human form. He is equal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a fully human life, experiencing the range of human experiences and emotions, yet without sin. Because he was the perfect Son of God, he offered himself as a sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He returned to heaven to serve as an intercessor for humanity, and he will return again to reign as King of Kings.

About God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with God the Father and God the Son. He works in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, providing understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in doing what is right, and power for following Christ. He serves as the connection between the believer and God the Father, interceding for people and giving us a glimpse of the life God has in store for those who follow Him.

About the Bible
The Bible is the true Word of God, containing no mixture of falsehood or error. It is God’s “how to” manual for life, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and practice.
Biblical References: Psalm 119:9-11, 2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 1:20-21
About the End Times
Just as we believe that Jesus lived and died, we believe that he will return as the King of all Kings. God alone knows when this will happen, and we believe that those faithful Christians who live in that day will immediately join Christ in eternity. There is no need for panic among the people of God, for all things are in the Father’s hands. While God has given some signs of Christ’s return in the promises of the Bible, we believe that the people of God are more faithful to the Word when we serve Christ by wholeheartedly following His clear commands than by guessing about what might happen in the future.

OUR BELIEFS
About Our Relationship with God
About Human Beings
We are created in the spiritual image of God, the crowning achievement of God’s work entrusted as caretakers of creation. We are designed for an unbroken relationship with God, though sin has broken that connection with God so completely that we cannot re-establish that relationship on our own. Although people have tremendous potential for good, every aspect of our beings has been corrupted by sin and needs God’s restoring work to fulfill that potential.
Biblical References: Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-8, Psalm 51:1-6, Romans 3:23
About Salvation and Eternity
Salvation is a gift from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ. Human effort cannot achieve salvation, for it is based solely on the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. Because salvation is a gift of grace, not a reward for works, a believer in Christ is secure for eternity. Salvation is started, continued, and secured by the power of God, not the efforts of man.
God’s desire is that every human spend eternity in heaven with Him, though He allows each person to choose whether or not to accept His gift of salvation. We will either accept God’s forgiveness and grace through Jesus Christ and spend eternity in heaven, or we will reject that grace and spend eternity in hell, separated from His love by our sin.

About Baptism
Baptism is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism is a living picture of the life change that the grace of God has already worked in a believer’s heart. Baptism gives a public statement that a person has died to their old, self-centered way of living and entered the new life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism should follow soon after a person’s salvation, and in keeping with the biblical pattern, baptism should take place by immersion.

About the Church
God has designed human beings for community. The three personalities of God exist in eternal community, giving us a model for the unity and love that should bind the followers of God together on earth. God places members in the church as He pleases, giving each one a unique role to play in His work.
The church refers to the people of God, not to the building. The Bible refers to the church as the body and bride of Christ, showing the high value God places on it. The local church, a committed gathering of believers, is God’s chosen instrument for reaching the world with His love, demonstrating changed lives and restored relationships for those who have not yet chosen to follow Him.
Biblical References: Acts 2:42-47, Romans 12:4-5, Hebrews 10:24-25
About the Family
Before God created the government or the church, God established the family as the primary set of human relationships. We believe God created marriage as a living picture of His love for His people, as one man (born a man) and one woman (born a woman) share God’s love in a covenant of love and respect that should last as long as both remain alive. We also believe that parents have the primary responsibility for sharing faith in Christ with their children.
